![]() ![]() This is not possible in Ardennes assault, or the linear campaigns of CoH1 or 2. Destroying their man production building before their re-enforcements have a chance to even spawn. At that, the rest are completely by-passable by rushing light armor straight into the enemy base. However, two of these are mutually exclusive with defense/offense. This means that "Technically" there are sixteen different types of skirmish mission that are available. As stated above there are four maps the game can choose from. On the same four maps at that.Īnother problem here, hearkening back to the issue of variety are the skirmish missions. In Italy, what happens if I've encircled some Germans? I have to play more skirmish missions, and I can walk forward uninterrupted rather than playing, yet again, more skirmish missions. Even something as simple as giving the enemy higher veterancy troops can change what I need to do when I'm entering the map. It also changes how the mission needs to be approached. As the retreating Germans don't buff their forces in nearby sectors. When you encircled a German territory in Ardennes Assault, not only does it make surrounding missions easier. What it understood however was variety, and allowing the player to influence missions. ![]() On the game-play side what made Ardennes Assault work so well? It is in essence, a blueprint for the Italian campaign after all. So why is this? In my personal opinion there are two sides to this, gameplay issues, and narrative issues. The North African campaign while inoffensive, does leave a bit to be desired as well. The Italian campaign tries quite hard to replicate Ardennes Assault while improving on what it had. The campaigns are disappointing, there is no denying this. I posted this on steam and reddit, but I figured if I wanted to get more feedback I should send it here as well. ![]()
